I will be honest when I first started, I earned instantly but there were those times that I really had to wonder if it was all worth it but I WAS DETERMINED! I just want to share some of the things that I have learned over the years that have helped me earn money because as we all know if we don't sell a substantial amount of Avon we won't make any money.
1. If you are a person that wants to sell Avon at vendor spaces but you are finding it hard to find the money to build your inventory, each campaign, order a couple of extra products that are on sale and slowly build your inventory. Then mark up your price on the products so that you can get a profit.
2. When people make orders from a brochure, check to see if Avon has those same products on sale in another booklet like the Beauty on a Budget booklet. Your clients don't have to know what you really paid for the product. Charge them the price from the original brochure.
3. If you have a daughter, have a pampering or little princess party for her birthday. You can make little baggies for the girls to take home to their parents with brochures in the baggies.
4. Maybe you are a person that is into jewelry and does not care much about selling cosmetics or other products that Avon carries. You could sell jewelry only. When jewelry goes on sale order a little at a time and build your inventory. This is a great way to start a jewelry business.
5. Find a product that you feel you may want to promote and market that item. For example: If Avon sales baby items, you could xerox a copy of that page in your brochure along with your contact information and ordering details and how about taking some flyers to a pediatricians office or any place where there are a lot of babies. This is called (target marketing - targeting people that will benefit from certain products)
6. Give clients a free bag of assorted samples with a little cute bow tied around it when ever they refer clients to you.
7. Do you have old brochures? Do you live near a workout place? Browse through your brochure and find the page that has curves shoes and attire and neatly cut out those pages out of each brochure and staple your business card to those single pages and simply pass them out in the parking lot or call up the manager and ask them if you could give them to potential clients.
8. When you do vendor spaces, staple your business card to samples and tape a piece of peppermint to the back side of the sample. Display them is a nice bowl and make sure you let people know that they can only have one because unfortunately people can really be greedy. I've actually had to put a little sign near the bowl or basket that read (please only take one)
9. When people have children and you are doing vendor spaces, it really is a shame to have to let people know that their children should not handle products but as we know when items becomes damaged, it cost us. My motto is - "If you damage it, you will own it" I am good about making signs :).
10. People should not be allowed to open products that are not paid for unless they have your permission. I have actually had people, believe it or not, touch the end of lipstick or roll it on their arm to see if it was the right color and then had the nerve to think that they were not gonna pay for it. (people should know better!)
