One thing I teach my new recruits is that their starter kit is just that. Its something that will only get a new rep started. The first brochure is the one that I always label as MY BROCHURE. The rest of them I give away. I keep the first brochure so that when people call in orders, I can refer to the pages that they inquire about. The question for me all those years ago when I first started selling Avon was who do I give brochures to.
People That Can and Will Pay for Their Orders
The ultimate goal for any person in direct sells is to earn money. Why would I pass out brochures to anyone that I strongly feel for what ever the reason will not or can not pay for their order?
If a person is irresponsible I strongly do not feel that this is a good candidate for a brochure. I mean I had to learn for myself that some of my closest family members and friends were good candidates only for screwing up my credit with Avon. I lived and I learned!!
People That You Can Deliver an Order to Easy
Unless a person carefully organizes a trip accross town, then trying to deliver to clients on the other side of town is costly in terms of how much gas will be used. I never give brochures to people that are outside of my area.
When I mention orgazine a trip, I mean I wouldn't go on the other side of town MABYBE unless I had at least 10 people to deliver to on the same day.
People That Can Pick Their Orders Up
I pass out brochures to my neighbors. The labels that I put on their brochures actually have my address on them. This way, I am letting them know that they have a rep in their area. I don't have to worry about gas mileage because they can just stop by the house.
People That I Make Eye Contact With
I believe in tossing brochures and leaving them in places but I strongly feel that people like to make a connection with a person. When I pass out brochures to total strangers I say something like "Hello I am an Avon rep sevicing this area. Could I give you a brochure? If they say yes I then say, "If you see something you like, please give me a call or email." If they choose to order online they can because all of my information is on the back of my brochures.
I Give My Clients Brochures to Pass Out
How about giving extra books to clients? If they pass out books for you and people order from those books, they can earn free products. If they get really good at this then why not recommend that they become a rep themselves and join your team?
Everyone Is a Candidate for a Brochure!
Rule of Thumb - If you feel strongly that they will pay for their order, give them a brochure. Here's a list of people that make good candidates for passing out brochures.
Family
Friends
Cashiers
Teachers
Bank Tellers
People at your dentist or doctors office
Tip:
People in direct sales should get out of their comfort zone and meet people. There is very little room for being shy. The more people you meet, the greater your chances of increasing your sales.
Tip #2
If you desire to earn a lot of money passing out a few brochures here and there won't earn you much money. I recommend that reps pass out 100 or more brochures per campaign. The investment is very minimal. I mean 100 brochures = 20.00.
Tip #3
An easy way to pass out brochures fast is to attend networking events, do vendor tables, or think about any event where there will be a lot of people.
Tip #4
The best Avon rep is never caught dead without a brochure in her purse or bag. We just never know who will want a brochure.
Tip #5
Keep brochures on your car using a brochure holder. Make sure that people can see that you are a rep. If you play your cards right, people will ask you for a brochure. Why...because you have an Avon shirt - you have an Avon hat - you have a car sign - you have an Avon bag, or an Avon pin. They are called business investments that will pay off! (tax write-offs)
