How to Sell Avon at Vendor Events

Getting Contact Info. for Followups

The Avon representative should make sure a drawing is done or that there is a way to start an email list. When doing drawings, a form should be available so that potential clients and recruits can provide their contact information. This way a follow up can be done.

Its perfectly up to the representative what will be given away. I usually giveaway a small gift set or basket. When doing drawings, I suggest creating a form that will include two questions: Would you be interested in earning extra money or what kind of products are you interested in? I would also ask this question: What Avon products have you ordered in the past?  Make sure this form has a space for their first and last name, email address, and phone number. The information should be placed in a drawing jar or container. Make sure you let people know when you will choose the winner and how they will get their gift if they win. The same information could be provided on an email list.

Why the Followup is Important

The Avon followup is important because the representative can call and ask if the person saw anything in the brochure they were interested in or if they are interested in earning extra money. The email list can be used to add them to the webstore. They could be potential online shoppers. I usually send out emails from the email center once per week. When I see products that are on sale, I notify my clients. This is why its important to ask about any products that were purchased in the past.

What Should I Take to a Vendor Event?

You will want to take sample packs, brochures, a bowl of mints, and free gifts for anyone that joins that day but remember to be creative and get contact information. Recruits can join from a smart phone or laptop. The sample packs are an easy way to include a business card, two mini flyers, and samples. Always introduce two opportunities. (the buying and selling opportunity) This is why I include two flyers. Its easier to place the brochure and sample pack inside of the clear plastic Avon bags. I would not give out sample packs until I get contact information. You will want to put small products like lipstick and trial sizes in a container or basket. Sample packs can also be put in a basket or container.

I would make two posters or have them made. Vistaprint did my posters but they were paper thin. I ended up taking them to Office Depot to have them laminated. One sign could say free Avon and the other Join Avon today for $30 or what ever else can fit on the poster. If purchasing an Avon tablecloth is too expensive, I suggest using a solid color one preferably black and getting large iron on letters from a craft store. Hobby Lobby has 40% off coupons on their website. Take your smartphone to the register with the coupon. www.hobbylobby.com

What Products Should I Take?

This is solely up to the represtative but I suggest products that can be used daily or frequently and a few extras like jewelry and fashion. Examples of products to sell: deodorant, shampoo & conditioner, lotion, skin so soft, bug gard during the hot season, bubble bath, shower gel, fragrance, makeup, and just any personal care items. If you have multiples of the same products like lotion, there could be a tester on the table. Lastly make a few gift sets and take as much product as you can. Do you have any product that people ordered and did not pay for? This is rare for me but when it happens, I don't usually waste money shipping it back to Avon unless its a very large order. Remember Avon reps can now return one order back absolutely free. To learn more about returns please call customer service. To make a good profit, I purchase items on clearance and make gift sets or charge clients the regular price. The Avon Outlet brochure, bundles, & items in the What's New brochure can be helpful.

Lastly don't ask them if they want to enter a drawing. Tell them that you'd like to enter them in a drawing so they can win a free gift.
