Someone sent me a message that sells cosmetics and wanted a little help in that area as far as selling is concerned. I've been successfully selling Avon for the last thirteen years. When I first started selling, I made up my mind that no matter how hard it was that I would earn a living selling their products. Because I work for the first cosmetic company that just happens to be 125 years old, It really wasn't that hard. Most people have used Avon products. Also because we sell products that people use everyday, that makes it a little easier. (soap, shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath, deodorant, and so forth)
But getting to the person that ask for a little help. Anything that you start will have challenges. You must make up in your mind especially if you know that this is the path that God has you on that you will succeed. Money must not be your first motive. Your business needs to be a passion. This way, until business picks up, you will not give up on your dream.
One key thing that I learned as a successful Avon lady is that I could not do this alone. I have relied upon help from friends and family members to help promote my business. There was a time that I was selling little or nothing. I must keep this real but today this is not the case. Here are some cosmetic business tips:
1. Even if you are not a person that wears make-up like me, give yourself a facial at least once a week especially if you know you will be going around people. When they say wow your make-up looks flawless. Give them a card!
2. Always use opportunities where you know a lot of people will be available to make sales. At my family reunion a few years back, I made it my business to pull out some of my products and yes I sold some.
3. Try to do facial parties at least once a month. Allow someone to plan one in their home and give them a free host gift.
4. Invest in products. Do vendor spaces and sell your products that way.
5. Create a downline-people that will sell under you. When they are working you are making money.
6. Make sure you keep samples and business cards with you at all times. People that never purchase a thing from you, stop giving them a brochure and samples. This is costing you money!!!!
7. Times like holidays, birthdays, or anniversaries are great opportunities to give away products that people do not pay for but I strongly recommend getting your money in advance.
8. Promote your website as much as you can on social media networks like this. People won't purchase your products if they do not know about them. Blog about products that you sell . You can create a free blog at blogger.com and your blog is live on Google. Simply give people a review about the product and tell them why you feel they should purchase the product and don't forget to add a link to your website.
9.You must call your clients after they make a purchase in a week or so to see how they are liking their products, this is an excellent opportunity to see if they want a new order.
10. Do no make deliveries unless you get a delivery fee for gas mileage.
11. Please get a car sign to market your business. Do not meet new clients in areas that are unsafe such as their home. If you choose to do deliveries meet them inside of a McDonald's or Walmart (notice I said inside) :)
12. Get close to top sellers that are selling your products. These are the people that do not have another job and the cosmetic business is their own business (get some 411)
13. If you sell cosmetics, you represent beauty, so you know what that means, you must look well at most times!! (notice I said most!)
So no more of my tips for the cosmetic business. I hope this helps!
*another quickie-try to stay in touch with all of your older clients because if you lose those clients then you will never build your business.
